Adopted Company Policies

These policies have been formally adopted by the Countryside Water System Board of Directors to protect the integrity, safety, and long-term sustainability of our water system. All members are required to comply.
Company Policy 1 – Tap Definition & Approved Equipment
Definition of a Tap:
A “tap” is defined as an isolation valve or connection service port designed to:

Isolate water below the frost line

Operate without a weep hole at the bottom

Include a replaceable stem-style plunger
-
Contain an internal heating probe capable of standalone service (no heat tape required)
An example of an approved tap includes a Woodford thermal line or equivalent system that meets these specifications.
Prohibited Equipment:
The use of any “red head” or “horse head” hydrant — commonly intended for irrigation or livestock use — is strictly prohibited for any domestic dwelling usage, including homes, RVs, or campers.
Violation & Enforcement:
If a member is found to be in violation of this policy:

Water services may be terminated, and/or
-
An additional full tap charge of $100.00 per violation will be added to the monthly bill.
Company Policy 2 – Minimum Backflow Prevention Requirements
To protect the public water supply from contamination:

A vacuum breaker must be installed on any hydrant (“red head”) whenever installation is reasonably possible.

A dual check backflow preventer must be installed at domestic dwellings whenever installation is reasonably possible.
These devices are required to prevent backflow and protect the safety of the entire system.
Company Policy 3 – Unauthorized Modifications Prohibited
No member may:

Modify any portion of the Countryside Water System
-
Add to the system
-
Alter system components
Without express written permission from the Board of Directors.
Unauthorized modifications may result in service termination, repair charges, and/or additional penalties as determined by the Board.
Company Policy 4 – Water Usage Schedule Compliance
All members must adhere to the established water usage schedule.
Watering or outdoor water use outside of the approved schedule may result in:

Additional charges
-
Fees
-
Other corrective actions as determined by the Board
These measures are necessary to maintain adequate system pressure and ensure equitable water distribution for all members.
